The Jazz Bakery presents the enchanting melodies of jazz virtuoso Eddie Henderson

The Jazz Bakery presents the enchanting melodies of jazz virtuoso Eddie Henderson, a trumpet maestro with a legendary legacy! Eddie Henderson’s life story is a musical journey intertwined with serendipitous encounters and a rich family heritage in entertainment.

Born into a family of entertainers, he learned from the best: his mother, a dancer at the original Cotton Club, and his father, a member of the popular group Billy Williams and the Charioteers. His stepfather, a physician to legends like Miles Davis, John Coltrane, and Duke Ellington, ensured that music was a constant presence. Balancing his dual passions, Eddie pursued both music and academia, eventually becoming a doctor. From his time in Herbie Hancock’s Mwandishi sextet to his chart-topping hit “Prance On” and collaborations with jazz luminaries, Eddie Henderson’s story illustrates how music and life experiences shape an extraordinary career.

Eddie has an exciting lineup: Roy McCurdy on drums, Jeff Littleton on bass, and Adam Ledbetter on piano presented at New Roads School at The Herb Alpert Educational Village in Santa Monica.
